The greatest joy of the holiday season is bringing happiness to others. This month the entire Skinner team got together to do just that.
Giving back to others is a deep-seated value for the Skinner Firm and family. For many years now, the SLF team has arranged holiday donations for area kids through partnerships with Blue Ridge Elementary and CASA of the Eastern Panhandle.
The SLF team coordinates with Blue Ridge and CASA-EP to get the wish lists for the kids, takes care of shopping, and then gets together to wrap it all up.
“It’s a good day for us as a team and a great way to give back to others in our community,” said Andrew.
“We get together for a team lunch and then wrap presents together. It’s a small way that we can help relieve families of the stress that can come with the season, especially for kids who may not have a stable environment at home.”
For more than a decade, the Eastern Panhandle Bar Charitable Foundation has held a gift drive to provide Christmas gifts to CASA kids, children who have been removed from their homes due to situations of abuse or neglect. Skinner Law Firm is one of the area firms who helps ensure a happy holiday for hundreds of foster children in the Eastern Panhandle.
And as a business partner for Blue Ridge Elementary School, adopting a family at Christmas is just one of the additional ways that Skinner Firm can support schools and families in the area.
“We all pitch in to do our best to make sure that the kids get what they need. These kids are often asking for basic necessities – pajamas, clothes that fit, new sheets – and not just the toys most kids might ask for. It’s a sobering reminder of what area children endure the rest of the year, and the difficult situations they must be in,” said Stephen.
“Christmas gift drives are one small way that we can give back. It may only be one day, but it’s one day of magic for these kids. Every kid deserves to feel special, and we’re glad to be a part of that,” said Andrew.
