3M to Stop Manufacturing PFAS

In late December, 3M announced that it would stop manufacturing PFAS by 2025.

If you’ve been following our coverage of PFAS for a while, you’ll know that this is a huge step forward for all of us. “PFAS” are a category of chemicals that have many uses in products as disparate as firefighting foam and pizza boxes. Despite their usefulness, they have a stark downside; they don’t break down (thus their nickname “forever chemicals”), and they can cause cancer in humans. Skinner Law Firm is currently involved in a lawsuit representing Berkeley County residents whose groundwater was contaminated with PFAS from the Air National Guard base in Martinsburg. We are excited that lawsuits such as ours have helped to push 3M to stop manufacturing these chemicals. Read more about our work on PFAS or submit your case info for a free consultation.
