Meet Pork Chop!
Available for Adoption • Est 2.5 Months Old• Neutering
At 2.5 years old, Pork Chop is one very distinguished gentleman. He’s a Pit Bull Terrier mix with a sleek black coat and a crisp white stripe down his chest, like a double-stuffed Oreo. He looks like he should be wearing a bowtie on his way to a business meeting. Even after everything he’s been through, his caretakers haven’t seen a mean bone in his body. He’s a sweetheart with the kennel staff. He loves people, wants all the attention and belly rubs he can get, and is very food-motivated, which makes him a great training candidate.
Pork Chop is a big, strong boy with a lot of energy, so he’ll do best with someone who enjoys an active companion and can give him regular exercise. Like many dogs who haven’t had a fair start, he’s still a work in progress. He pulls on the leash and needs to learn some manners. When he gets overstimulated, he sometimes tries to hump, but he stops with consistent correction and a firm “off.” Professional training would help him a lot, and he’ll thrive with a patient, consistent adopter. The good news is that he loves people and loves treats, which gives him a real head start.
It isn’t known yet how Pork Chop does with other dogs, cats, or children. Because of his size and energy, he may be too much for smaller children. He isn’t unkind, just big and enthusiastic, and he needs a home where he can learn his manners without accidentally overwhelming someone smaller than he is. Adopters with experience handling strong, energetic dogs would be a real benefit to him.
Pork Chop needs someone willing to invest in him. Give this boy structure, exercise, training, and plenty of the affection he craves, and he’ll grow into a loyal, devoted companion. He’ll be the kind of dog who greets you at the door and leans into you on the couch simply because you’re his person. He’s already waited so long. Now he just needs a home where the rest of his story can happen.
Pork Chop is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped.
If you think you might be that person, come say hello to Pork Chop. He’s hoping you’ll come meet him soon.
