In mid-March, the Environmental Protection Agency proposed new drinking water standards that would limit the amount of harmful PFAS in water. The National Primary Drinking Water Regulation would establish legally enforceable levels for six different PFAS chemicals which are known to appear in drinking water. The EPA would establish a Maximum Contaminant Level (4 parts per trillion) that would be enforceable. If the rule becomes final, systems would have three years to comply with the new safety rules. Because of the work we have done on behalf of victims of PFAS, we know how harmful they can be, and we are very pleased that the government is working to keep them out of our drinking water.
