As personal injury lawyers, we often meet people during tough times—after they’ve been badly hurt or lost a loved one in a car crash. It’s sad, and what makes it even worse is knowing that many of these crashes didn’t have to happen.
We repeatedly encounter the same problems: dangerous intersections, poor visibility, and roads designed for outdated traffic. These aren’t faraway highways. They’re the roads we all use every day—to get to school, work, or the grocery store. They’re the roads where our kids ride the bus and teens learn to drive.
That’s why we created a new video series called “Intersections with the Skinner Brothers.”
What the Series Is About
This isn’t an ad. It’s not about getting more cases. It’s a public service to help protect people in our community.
Each month, we’ll show a new intersection in Jefferson or Berkeley Counties in West Virginia or Winchester or Frederick County in Virginia — all places where serious crashes have happened. We’ll walk you through what makes these spots so dangerous and why they need attention. Things like bad road design, missing signs, and high rates of speed that can all lead to crashes.
Our goal is simple: prevent more people from getting hurt.
First Video: Route 340 and Patrick Henry Way at Walmart in Jefferson County, West Virginia
We started the series with a stretch of Route 340 in front of Walmart in Jefferson County. This spot has a lot of traffic, confusing turns, and not enough signs. It’s seen many serious accidents.
People in town have said for years that this area is a problem—and we’ve seen it in our own cases, too. But so far, efforts to fix it have fallen short.
Why We’re Doing This
People ask us all the time:
- Why wasn’t something done?
- Why isn’t there a warning sign?
- Why do they wait until someone dies?
We’re asking the same things.
The truth is, designers built some of these roads 30 years ago, before our towns grew as large as they are now. However, many of the problems remain unaddressed. That has to change.
What You Can Do
We don’t have all the answers. But we do know that saying nothing won’t help. That’s why we’re speaking up, and we hope that you will too.

Let your friends, family, and neighbors know. The more people who speak up, the more likely it is that changes will happen.
To Highway Planners:
Please pay attention. Don’t wait until there’s another accident. Let’s keep our roads safe now.
To Our Community:
Let’s not wait for another tragedy. Let’s work together to fix what we already know is broken.
