Attorney Pete W. Teller
Attorney Pete Teller has been with Skinner Law Firm since Summer 2016. Before joining the firm, Pete had been practicing law as a JAG lawyer in the US Air Force. Pete focuses his practice on consumer issues, some of which include ensuring that consumers credit reports are accurate, and ensuring that debt collectors play by the rules.
His journey to West Virginia started on his first day of law school at the University of Texas at Austin, when he and Andrew Skinner found themselves assigned to the same small group. Their military backgrounds — Pete had been an electronics warfare officer on a B-52 bomber and Andrew had been a tanker and logistician in the Army — provided immediate connections, and they have been friends ever since. During several stints stationed in Washington, DC, Pete and his wife Cheryl and their three sons, Colby, Grady, and Evan often visited Andrew and his family.
He graduated with honors from the United States Air Force Academy in 1991 and the University of Texas School of Law in 1999. His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Nuclear Deterrence Operations Service Medal, and the Legion of Merit. He is a member of the bar of the highest state courts in West Virginia and Texas, as well as the United States Supreme Court.
As a judge advocate, Pete managed legal services for numerous commands, including Air Force Materiel Command, the 68,000-person command responsible for buying and maintaining the Air Force’s combat inventory. His career culminated with an assignment to the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals, where he served as one of eight military judges hearing appeals of capital and other serious offenses prosecuted through the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Pete’s teams were even singled out by the American Bar Association for exceptional legal services to veterans and servicemembers.
